Privacy Policy for QR Scanner: Barcode Scanner

Privacy Policy for QR Scanner: Barcode Scanner

Effective Date: April 15, 2026

This privacy policy applies to the QR Scanner: Barcode Scanner app for Android devices. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how your device's data and permissions are utilized when you use our application.

1. Information Collection and Use
QR Scanner: Barcode Scanner is designed to process data locally on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, scanned data, or images with any external servers or third parties. All barcode and QR code decoding happens directly on your device.

2. Required Device Permissions
To provide its core functionalities, the app requests the following device permissions. We only use these permissions for their stated purposes:

Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Required to access your device's camera for real-time scanning of QR codes and barcodes. No video or image data is recorded or sent over the internet.

Storage (android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE & android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to allow you to scan QR codes from images saved in your device's gallery, and to save newly generated QR codes and barcodes to your device's local storage.

Wi-Fi Connections (android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE & android.permission.CHANGE_WIFI_STATE): Used exclusively for the "Smart Wi-Fi Connect" feature. When you scan a Wi-Fi QR code, these permissions allow the app to automatically configure and connect your device to that specific network. We do not track your network history or location.

Vibrate (android.permission.VIBRATE): Used strictly to provide haptic feedback (a brief vibration) to notify you when a code has been successfully scanned.

3. Third-Party Libraries and SDKs
The app utilizes secure, industry-standard third-party libraries and SDKs to provide core functionality. These libraries operate under their own privacy policies:

Google ML Kit (Barcode Scanning): We use Google's ML Kit for lightning-fast, highly accurate barcode detection. This process runs entirely on-device using machine learning. No images are sent to Google for processing. However, Google Play Services may collect diagnostic data related to the performance of the ML Kit API.

ZXing (Zebra Crossing): An open-source library used locally on your device for generating QR codes and barcodes.

AndroidX CameraX & UI Libraries: Core components provided by Google to handle the camera hardware interface and user interface design securely.

Glide: An image loading framework used to efficiently load and process images from your gallery when you choose to scan a saved photo.

For more information on how Google handles data via Play Services, please refer to the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Data Security
Because QR Scanner: Barcode Scanner does not transmit your personal data, images, or scanned history to our servers, your data remains as secure as the device you are using. We rely on the Android operating system's built-in security mechanisms to protect the data stored locally by the app.

5. Children’s Privacy
Our application does not contain age-restricted content and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. Since all processing occurs offline and on-device, the app is safe for users of all ages.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we update the app to include new features that require additional permissions or third-party SDKs, we will reflect those changes in an updated version of this policy. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.

7. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding this Privacy Policy or the practices of the application, please reach out to us via the developer contact section provided on the QR Scanner: Barcode Scanner listing on the Google Play Store.
